Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is often used as an adjunct to a physical therapy but can be used as a stand alone treatment if used correctly.

What is Myofascial Release?

Myofascial Release is a whole body treatment using a multi-disciplinary approach. It incorporates an integration of advanced soft tissue techniques which are drawn from a variety of fascial healthcare systems involving massage, Stretching Upledgers and Craniosacral therapy, and Barnes Myofascial Release.

What can it treat?

- Back strain, chronic back pain, low back pain, thoracic back pain
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Chronic cervical pain
- Complex pain complaints
- Dizziness, vertigo
- Fibromyalgia
- Fibrositis
- Headache
- Myofascial pain dysfunction
- Plantar fasciitis
- Post-Polio symptoms
- Thoracic outlet syndrome
- TMJ dysfunction
- Trigger points, tender points
- Whiplash

How does it work?

The treatment is a very relaxing therapy which uses gentle stretching to unwind the soft tissue that has been traumatised by direct or indirect impact. It is believed that the soft tissue called 'fascia' is attached to aspects of the body (muscle, tendons, ligaments, organs and bone). Because this fascia is attached to all soft tissue, when we experience trauma in one part of the body it will affect other parts of the body. This is the reason for whole body treatment.
