W h a t  i s  I n d i a n  H e a d  M a s s a g e?

Based on the ayurvedic system (an ancient medical text about the arts of healing and prolonging life), Indian head massage has been practiced in India for over one thousand years. Head massage is not only used by Indian women in their grooming routine to keep hair strong and conditioned  but  provides Indian families with relaxation and healing on a daily basis, as well as playing a part in rituals such as weddings and births.

Traditional head massage concentrated on the head and the hair, but the treatment now includes work on the upper back, shoulders and neck - important energy centres where tension tends to accumulate.

With its firm but gentle techniques, Indian head massage  helps to relax and relieve tensions in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders. It also works on an emotional level by instilling a deep sense of wellbeing and relaxation.

 

    W h a t   w i l l   m y   s e s s i o n   i n v o l v e ?

You will be asked to sit, fully clothed, in a chair for the treatment. The therapist will use a range of different movements over the neck, shoulder and scalp areas and gently stimulate and stroke pressure points on the face. You will normally be asked to sit quietly for ten minutes after the treatment has finished.

    H o w   l o n g   i s   a   s e s s i o n ?

Each session lasts for 30 minutes.
